Her teaching and research interests are aquatic microbiology, Hydrobiology, Bioremediation, Technologies of water and waste-water treatment and their adaptability, practices of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene-WASH, Development and Climate Policy, Nutritional Sciences, Restoration of Degraded Landscapes, Risk Analysis in Food Science, Toxicology, water quality monitoring and assessment, climate change, Evolutionary Ecology, management of fisheries resources and Aquaculture. She has BSc. Fisheries and Aquaculture (Makerere University), MSc in Environmental Sciences: Limnology and Wetland Ecosystems (UNESCO-IHE, The Netherlands) and a PhD in Microbiology-Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland-RCSI).As a researcher, her focus has been on microbiological quality of drinking water sources, household water treatment technologies and adaptabilities, Antimicrobial resistance in environment, bioremediation of waste water by use of Plasmid-Mediated bio-augmentation bacteria, nutritional quality of fish feeds etc. Her PhD work was focusing on microbial quality of Harvested rain water, use of SODIS for treatinsg drinking water and the adaptability of SODIS Users. She has worked with Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations in several consultancies on water, sanitation and hygiene projects.
